After a few disappointing results, it was good to get the win against Hibs ahead of the break for the World Cup. The first team players and staff will have some time off in November before returning in early December to prepare for the restart of the season, and a busy schedule over the festive period ahead of the trip to Hampden.

Derek McInnes has been giving regular updates in his pre match press conferences and post-match interviews, where he has been open about his commitment to, and ambitions for the Club. We were pleased to see Danny Armstrong sign a new contract, and, with the addition of Russ Richardsonon on recruitment, there is a renewed focus on building the squad needed, not just at the January transfer window, but into the summer and beyond. Hopefully the World Cup break will allow recuperation time for players who have recently sustained injuries, and that we see returns from longer term injuries.

Some of the club staff will also be taking annual leave during the break, but the key functions will of course be covered, with the shop and ticket office expected to be busy in the run up to Christmas.

On the football front, there will still be Youth Academy and Women’s matches at Rugby Park. Academy matches can be arranged at relatively short notice so please keep an eye on the weekly email which comes to Trust members giving an update on fixtures as well as Club social media. Women’s matches are generally on Sundays and information is shared on Club website and via social media.

The Youth Academy has seen continued positive developments, with Bobby Wales progressing to his debut first team appearances.  Bobby Wales and Ben Brannan were also selected for their respective age group Scotland squads.  Across all age groups, Academy Head Paul di Giacomo has been working with Academy coaches on engaging with parents, and held an in-service event for coaching staff which included inputs from Craig Clark, and first team assistant manager Tony Docherty.

It is hoped to have youth players attend the annual Supercup tournament in Northern Ireland next summer, if enough funds can be raised – the Killie Trust is already looking at how this can be supported.

The Women’s first team has also faced some tough matches and Women’s Development Manager Jim Chapman is also making plans for refreshing the squad, with the aim of working towards promotion.  A Steering Group has been established (which I am part of) to finalise bringing the younger girls teams under the auspices of the Club, to have the new Girls Academy established early in 2023, when their new season begins.

Commercial update:

A few highlights from commercial department report which was presented to the recent Club Board meeting:

  • Season ticket sales now stand at 5019 – a record high since the late 90’s.

A half season ticket will be available for sale. A number of fans have asked about options, including a pass for a set number of games, and that will be considered for future offerings.

  • Shirt sales have continued to sell extremely well with over 4,000 units already sold across the home, away and third line-up. The winter re-stock should arrive any day now, but we are still dealing with issues in the global supply chain caused by the war in Ukraine and fall out from Covid-19 and Brexit.

While it might seem like a way off, lead in times for manufacturing mean that next seasons playing and training kits are being worked on just now. Fans will be pleased to hear that this seasons third kit will remain in next year’s line-up, taking us back to time when our third kit lasted for 2 seasons. This will allow fans to get a little more wear out the third kit and hopefully see it in play more than a handful of times.

  • 1965 sales are in addition to original 150 produced

A new retro shirt is on the way so watch out for more details being issued by the Club.

The Killie leisurewear range has continued to be popular and you will see some ranges restocked and new launches in the run up to Christmas.  In addition, the range created in collaboration with Ayrshire retail brand Offspringz is now available.

The Captain Conker book produced in conjunction with Nae Bother Books has already sold over 300 copies.

The new “Killie on Top” book written by Killie fan Doug Lyburn went on sale on 12 October and will no doubt be popular as a Christmas gift!

Perimeter advertising Boards have been taken up well, with a number of new companies now involved.  Eagle eyed fans will have spotted the Killie Trust being advertised on the LED perimeter boards, which was good to see on BBC match highlights!

Our semi-final tickets for the Viaplay League Cup are now on sale to our Season Ticket Holders and supporters groups. More information on the process can be found here - > https://kilmarnockfc.co.uk/news/ticket-information-viaplay-league-cup-semi-final/

All season ticket holders should have received the link to purchase their tickets by now, but should you have any issues or can’t find your link, then please contact the ticketing team on [email protected] if you require further assistance.

The general sale window will follow very soon, but these will all be done in person to restrict any infiltration. Dates on the official ticket collections will follow early next month.

With some exciting products on the horizon for the Killie Superstore, we’ll be sure to make your Christmas a happy Killie one, so stay tuned to our social media channels for the latest products and offers as we approach ‘Blue Friday’.

Media

The media team has been working proactively on media output, including using opportunities afforded by our return to the top league to have coverage in print media, as well as increasing social media output and engagement. The new “alternative angle” following match day has been welcomed, and the Ash Taylor Halloween antics has been one of the most popular pieces of content!

Ahead of the Cup Semi Final at Hampden there will be some special content featuring, so watch this space!

Currently work is under way to revamp the Club website, which will see more information on individual player profiles, including for Academy and Women’s team players.

Tik Tok has been added to the platforms used by the Club and in only a few weeks since launch has gained 2000 followers and seen 94000 views across 2 clips.

Fans regularly comment on the amount of communication which comes from the club, so I thought it would be of interest to give some snapshots of output and engagement from August to October.

The Club has coverage across the range of social media platforms and a snapshot of 'influence' is shown below. Increasingly, the type of content is being tailored to suit the specific platform and the people who use it. Therefore fans will see variations in how information is presented across the different channels.

The snapshot highlights an increase in active engagement with tweets:

While FB is an established platform the demographic has changed and now tends to be used by   'older' people, particularly women.   This snapshot shows an increase in views, while the number of “new likes” has been relatively static.

KCST update

KCST continues to run programmes across age ranges, from the youngest Mini Kickers through to Football Memories for older fans, many of whom have been impacted by Alzheimers.

While we were disappointed that the Football Memories Group was not successful in receiving funding from the East Ayrshire Council Participatory Budget voting, a big thank you goes to Trust member Peter Nederlof, our Dutch Killie friend, whose birthday party fundraiser raised cash for the Group, as well as the Academy. Ross Mathie spoke eloquently at the event, explaining why the group is so important, and makes a real difference to those attending, for a relatively small annual budget. If anyone is keen to support the group financially, or fundraise, please get in touch!

The Halloween Walk at Rugby Park had over 150 sign up and Crosshouse Children’s Charity predict around £3k of income from this.

Work is under way to try and secure funding to expand the community activities offered by KCST, as despite having some new additions, it is still a small staff team who are covering a lot of bases.

Free match tickets are still being available to local boys’ and girls’ clubs to enable children and young people. Any groups interested in this should contact Jordan at KCST. A simple process for local sports and community groups to apply for free match day tickets  via KCST is available -

Killie Trust update

The Trust Board has continued to meet monthly to discuss the various activities we are currently involved in and plan priorities for the year ahead, following the Trust AGM in December.

  • Monthly members forums have now been established, which I attend along with Trust Chair Jim Thomson, and other Trust Board members who are available. This allows the members to hear progress reports, participate in discussions, ask questions and put forward their ideas within a friendly online community. With the Trust AGM taking place in December, the next members forum will be held in January.
  • Arising from the 'Killie Exiles' online event, a group has been established, led by Trust Member Ian Anderson, and a number of fans who live further away are planning to travel to the Aberdeen match next month, with some other activities in the planning stage
  • Trust volunteers continue to support Kilmarnock FC Women on match day operations and, if you'd like to assist, please contact us at - [email protected]
  • Discussions are under way with the Club on siting the cycle shelter which the Trust successfully received funding for, to help promote active travel
  • Schools Supporters Groups are continuing to make use of the season tickets provided by the Killie Trust, thanks to the generosity of our supporters. The young people continue to show their appreciation and support for the club by staying behind after matches to help the clean up operations
  • The Foodbank Collection has taken place on daytime match days, with much needed donations being provided by supporters. The collections will resume after the World Cup break, but meantime the annual KFCSA Bring a Gift Appeal will be taking place in early December
  • The Trust has been coordinating the matchday mascot experience, which sees the young people get a pre-match day visit to the stadium as well as leading the team out on matchday. Mascots have been identified for home first team matches up until the season split, and it is planned to give opportunities for kids to be mascots / ball persons also at women’s first team home matches.
  • Discussions are ongoing with the Club regarding possible options on purchase/lease of screens to enhance the matchday experience for supporters. As this would be a very significant expense, it is important to fully explore all options to ensure value for money

Members can sign up to attend the Trust 2022 AGM using this link -

Last but not least, the Club held its annual Remembrance Day Service, organised by Club Ambassador Raymond Montgomerie, on Sunday 13 November, with a good turnout. Thanks to all of those who came to pay their respects and Rev James McNay for conducting the service.

Contacts:

I can be contacted in a number of ways:

Email : [email protected]

Twitter: @cathyjamieson

Instagram: cathyjamiesonkillie

Facebook: cathy jamieson

While I am happy to engage on social media when I can, I’m sure members will understand that I am not monitoring that round the clock, so may not be able to instantly reply, and an email to me is often a better way of dealing with more complex issues. Occasionally FB messages go astray and emails erroneously end up in spam bin, so if you do not get a response, please try contacting me by a different route!

Supporters Liaison Officer Allen Kyle is also happy to deal with queries from fans and he will let me know of any issues that need to be raised at Board level.

Club staff, CWPO and KFCDSA can be contacted directly with details available on club website
